Course information

On this course, you’ll develop the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to begin working in domestic plumbing and heating.

You will learn about:

• Health and safety at work
Understand how to work safely in a plumbing environment, including identifying risks and following industry regulations.

• Plumbing processes
Learn the key techniques involved in plumbing, including installing, maintaining, and repairing systems using the correct tools and materials.

• Scientific principles
Gain an understanding of the basic science behind plumbing systems, such as water pressure, flow, and heat transfer.

• Hot and cold water systems
Explore how domestic water systems work, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting common issues like leaks.

• Central heating systems
Learn the basics of heating systems found in homes, including components, controls, and how they operate.

• Above and below ground drainage
Understand how waste and drainage systems are installed and maintained, both inside and outside of properties.

• Electrical and renewable technologies
Gain an introduction to how plumbing connects with electrical systems and modern energy-efficient technologies.
