As an Early Years student at EKC Dover College, you’ll take part in a range of exciting opportunities working with children.
From storytime sessions with local nurseries, to custom activity days with a local school, you’ll develop skills, refine your workshops, and showcase your experience in professional settings.
You will benefit from structured work placements, which are an integral part of your qualification.
Extensive links with local employers provides access to placement opportunities and real-life training in nurseries and schools.
You will gain practical experience in our training nursery, with access to specialist equipment, to give you an understanding of how real childcare centres work.
This space will help you to learn how to create a safe and stimulating environment that supports children mentally, emotionally and physically.
You will take part in social action projects throughout the year.
Students lead of a variety of fundraising and volunteering projects as a way to give back to the local community.
You can take part in national and international competitions to showcase your newfound skills.
We regularly enter students into the KFE4Skills competition, in which they’re tested to build a resource to aid children’s learning.
As a key member of the Early Years team, Tanya has built strong relationships with local schools and nurseries throughout her career, creating valuable opportunities for students in the local area.

Our Education and Early Years courses can be fantastic routes into a wide range of careers working with children and young people.
Here are some of the roles you can progress into after completing your qualification with us.
We spoke to three students, Esther, Ruby, and Kayleigh, about their time studying Level 2 Early Years at EKC Dover College.
They are finishing their second year of the Early Years programme and enjoyed reflecting on their experiences in the classroom, interacting with staff, and in their work placement settings.
Our Level 2 Early Years students welcomed Year Two pupils from a local primary school, hosting a festive Christmas party designed to give the children a fun seasonal experience.
Each year, around 50 to 60 children visit from Aylesham Primary School, and this annual event gives Early Years students the opportunity to plan, organise and lead age-appropriate activities in a practical setting.
