In this blog we recap on the festive events that took place at EKC Dover College.
December is known for being a busy month and with our Principal, Eleanor, excited for Christmas, we were extremely busy!
The Hub was transformed into a winter wonderland for all the festive events. Featured was a snow globe photo booth, a fairy lights entrance and an office turned into Santa’s grotto!

Christmas Markets

The College came together to host Christmas markets for students and the community around Dover, raising money for United Families. The Art and Design department sold beautifully decorated Christmas Baubles, the Plumbing department crafted some impressive copper Christmas trees, and the Engineering F1 for Schools Team baked some delicious cakes for the event.

We also saw our SU President, Sam, handing out free popcorn and hot drinks to warm up our visitors. A special thanks must go to our Student Experience Officer, Summer, for organising and hosting such a great community event.
Aylesham Christmas party visit with Early Years
Our Early Years students impressed their tutors during the Christmas party they hosted for 50 year two pupils.
The learners had been working hard during the term to prepare for the visit. They had planned activities for the children to complete throughout the day, from Christmas craft to party games, the day was jam-packed of fun and laughter.
Watching our students interact with the pupils from the Primary School was heart-warming. It was clear they thrive when working with children, they keep their energy up when hosting the games and helped the children to sound out words when writing their letters to Santa before visiting him in the grotto.

The Christmas magic was certainly alive in The Hub during this wonderful visit.
Christmas Door Competition

Of course, our staff did not miss out on the festive fun, they joined in with their very own Christmas door decorating competition! As you walked around the College, I’m sure you saw some of the creative Christmas designs.
The SU created a huge interactive elf on the Student Centre door, this was a genius design in which you could help yourself to candy canes! The College Services team did not disappoint when they created a life size Eleanor Elf which sat next to their Christmas door.
Although, the winning door was the Level 1 Curriculum department for their impressive Christmas tree design incorporating 3D shapes. Congratulations to the winners and well done to all departments that took part.
Free the frozen Elf challenge

We could not do a Christmas at Dover without the appearance of our cheeky Elf! This year the Elf found himself trapped in a block of ice. We challenged our students to break the Elf free using equipment found in their area.
Four departments took on the challenge, Automotive, Early Years, Engineering and Hairdressing, each going about the challenge in a unique way. The freeing made for some entertaining videos which can be found on our Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X.
What an incredible December we had at EKC Dover College. If you want to join in the fun next year, why not visit us at our next Open Day.
