English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

This course is your first step into college education, helping you get a job or start a traineeship. As part of this course, you’ll get extra help with your English and maths, making you more ready for work and allowing you to move on to a Level 2 course if you choose to.

To join this programme, you will need to show that you can reach Level 1 in English and maths by the end of the course. This will be checked through an assessment during your interview.

You will be assessed based on personal targets, through coursework and exams.

ESOL students progress through Entry Levels 1, 2 and 3, and can then progress
onto any of our vocational courses in the wider College.

Throughout your studies, you take part in a variety of internal and external events and trips designed to improve your knowledge and for you to experience fun activities.

We also benefit our community by taking part in social action projects which help with development and skill progression, as well as making a difference locally.

The course is for 16-18-year-old learners. If you are aged 19+, please
contact EKC Training for Adult ESOL courses.

Assessments are held prior to the start of the programme and students enrol
on to the level according to their ability.
