You may have heard about an outbreak of Meningitis in the county, and we can understand that you may be worried about this. In response to this, we want to ensure that you are aware of what symptoms to look out for and understand what you need to do if you or your young person develops symptoms.

Preparation for Higher Education: Access to HE courses are specifically designed to prepare adults who may not have traditional qualifications for entry into university-level study. It equips you with the necessary skills and knowledge to progress to university.
Focused Curriculum: Access to HE courses offer a focused curriculum tailored to the specific requirements of the field. This ensures that students acquire the relevant knowledge and skills needed for their chosen profession. There are two pathways you can choose when studying Access the HE at EKC Dover College, you can choose to specialise in Humanities and Social Science or Healthcare Professionals.
Practise Academic Writing: During the course you will be required to writeessays, reports, and research papers following the conventions of academic writing, such as proper citation and referencing. This will prepare you for the level of writing that will be expected of you if you choose to study at university.
Personal and Professional Development: This course helps students develop valuable personal and professional skills such as communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving. These skills are essential for success at university.
Supportive Environment: Studying at your local College means smaller class sizes and an outstanding wraparound support system for your personal and academic needs – perfect if you don’t feel quite ready for the transition into a big university.
Increased Confidence: By successfully completing this course, you’ll gain confidence in your academic abilities, making the transition to university smoother. All Access to HE students will visit a university campus at least once, helping you to visualise yourself within that environment.
Financial Support: Some students may be entitled to The Advanced Learner Loan which pays the Access course fees. Student Finance England will ‘write off’ any outstanding Advanced Learner Loan balances you owe for an Access to HE course once you complete an undergraduate degree. This means you do not have to repay it.
