EKC Dover College celebrates Level 3 Results Day success

Today marks an exciting moment for students at EKC Dover College as they collect their Level 3 results!

With many securing places at their chosen university, and others preparing to start full-time work or apprenticeships, there was a buzz across at College today as students found out their results.

Gloria studied T Level Engineering (Design and Development at College and achieved a Merit. She is currently weighing up her options and has offers to continue studying engineering at Bournemouth University and the University of Kent.

Speaking about her journey at College, Gloria said she feels she’s been set up nicely for her future, commenting on practical skills she’s been able to master in the workshop.

“Being hands-on, working with tools that I’d probably never see if I was doing regular A Levels has been really beneficial. I think it’s prepared me quite well, my tutors have given me practical things that I can use in the workplace, like learning technical drawings and how to properly annotate them.” she said.

T Level Digital Support and Security student, Alfie also received positive results and is set to study BSc (Hons) Cyber Security & Computer Forensics at Canterbury Christ Church University.

He told us: “I’m really happy. I would have been happy with anything so long as I passed. College has really helped me to get out of my shell. I was quite quiet and unsure when I first started.

“Now, after the four years I’ve been here, it’s opened me up to a lot more new things. I’m so much happier and more confident.”

Meanwhile, there were celebrations all round for Level 3 Electrical Installation students, May and Luke. May was elated to have achieved a distinction. She is looking forward to the future and plans to complete an NVQ Apprenticeship and the associated AM2 qualification once she turns 18.

Luke, was happy with his results and told us how he has enjoyed his time at College.

“I’ve made some good friends, and good connections. I’ve also learnt the routes that I can take from those connections, which are all quite positive. My course, and my lecturers have given me the ropes – shown me my strengths and my weaknesses so that I can press on further with electrical.” he said.

Luke is has big plans for his future, but for now is still keeping his options open. He is currently looking into entering the industry as a Wind Farm Engineer, or his preferred route, working on maritime ships as an Electrical Technician Officer. His ultimate goal is to move to Southampton for additional training so that he can work on superyacht’s in the future.

Also celebrating was Dmitrij, who successfully has completed his Level 3 Art and Design course and is now looking forward to finding full-time employment. He told us: “I’m going to look for work. I decided university wasn’t for me so I’d just like to get out there and earn money. Once I have a steady job I’d like to maybe focus more on my art too.”

When asked what advice Dmitrij would give new students, he said: “Make sure you do lots of research. Write down every part and everything you find out, you never know when it’ll come in useful.”

Eleanor Sherratt were amongst those celebrating with students. When asked about the success of EKC Dover College students, she commented: “I’m incredibly proud of all of our students who have received results today. These are a true reflection of the hard work and dedication towards their studies.

“It is always a privilege to watch these students grow in confidence across the two years of studying with us and wish each and every one of them the very best as they continue with their next steps.”
