Students from EKC Dover College explored their artistic side during the Creative Café run by ArtWorks in collaboration with the Masion Dieu.
Workshops were run by local creatives with sessions taking place around the EKC Dover College campus. Students from every department were invited to let join in the array of art-based activities.
There were a vast range of workshops for learners to get involved in. A noticeable buzz of excitement could be seen as students left their workshops discussing their masterpieces with friends.
A particularly remarkable collaborative work of art was the graffitied BMW. T Level Computing student Alfie Bailey, who was helping as a student ambassador in the motor vehicle workshop, told us: “It was such a good thing to do, I found it very fun and enjoyable.
“I wouldn’t have been so creative or thought about how to be artistic without today.”
The Creative Café gave students from all departments the opportunity to try something new and use their imaginations, many students stepping out of their comfort zone to explore a new skill.
Louise Webb who works as the Placemaking Creative Producer for Kent at ArtWork explained: “Today was about students from different courses coming together from all across the campus to find the unique beauty in art and being creative.”
Early Students Tish Scott and Kim Birch-Inglis enthusiastically explained how much they enjoyed the day and taking part in the photography, tattoo and DJ workshops.
Kim told us: “This was so different to our Early Years course. I might start doing more art as I have really enjoyed it”
Tish added “I loved the ink tattoo workshop; we created matching tattoos. It was great to be able to create your own designs.”
The Creative Café was an astounding success bring students from all over the College together for day of collaboration and creativity.
