Our mission is to play a leading role for East Kent in developing the economic and social prosperity of the diverse communities we serve.
EKC Dover College students have been celebrating their GCSE achievements at this year’s Results Day.
We spoke to some of our students about their success and the progression routes they are taking next.
Ibrahim, Maths GCSE
Ibrahim is celebrating success with a Grade 5 in his Maths GCSE, as well as passing our Level 2 Computing course. He originally studied ESOL at EKC Folkestone College for 2 years, before completing Functional Skills Maths, and now his Maths GCSE, here at Dover. A true testament to progression, Ibrahim will be joining EKC Canterbury College at the end of the month to start a Level 3 in Computing.
“I’m so excited to learn lots of new things in September on my Computing course, and meeting lots of new people. My GCSE in Maths now means I am ready to take on the course.”

Ruby and Sushma, English and Maths GCSE
Ruby and Sushma are looking forward to the future after their GCSE success, with Ruby receiving a Grade 5 in English Language, and Sushma gaining a Grade 5 in Maths. Ruby was really proud of her achievements, saying about her plans, “I am going to look into Access courses, I’m not sure what I want to do yet, but this qualification means I can now see it as an option!”
Sushma is now heading to Stafford University to study Nursing, and was relieved at her results. “My grade means I have now been accepted to university – I’m so excited!”

Dylan, Maths GCSE
Dylan failed his maths in November but didn’t give up and revised so hard to pass today. He was totally surprised by his results, receiving a Grade 4, which is a testament to his hard work. Dylan received double good news on results day as he has also passed his Level 2 in Plumbing.
“Without my Maths GCSE, I wouldn’t have been able to do an apprenticeship, and I am so happy now I’ve achieved and I can look forward to the future.”
Dylan will be working as an apprentice at the Port of Dover from September, and we wish him the best of luck.

As well as GCSE results, students from across the East Kent Colleges group have been collecting their results in Level 2 and Functional Skills programmes.
Congratulations to all of you who got the grades you wanted. We are looking forward to welcoming those of you who are joining us in September!
